Please DO NOT submit poetry you have written to fuckyeahpoetry. While we’re encouraging of people writing and expressing themselves through verse, this blog is not intended as a showcase of Tumblr users’ personal and unpublished works.

And no, putting your name as if you’re crediting another author at the end of the poem is not a trick we’re susceptible to, and it will likely result in us not accepting future submissions from you.

All poetry you yourself have authored and then submitted to fuckyeahpoetry will be deleted without explanation by the mods.

We’re sorry if this comes across as rude or snobby, but the amount of times we have had to say this is really, really frustrating. Please respect this rule, we don’t ask much otherwise. If you would like us to critique or read your poem for feedback, that is totally cool, just explain that to us in a message.

We love you guys and we’re loving the submissions that stick to the guidelines! Keep ‘em coming.

1. Can I submit my own poems to fuckyeahpoetry?

For the perceivable future the answer is no. This Tumblr was designed to be a collection of poetry that your mods and the Tumblr community at large enjoy. If we don’t post your poem, it is NOT because we didn’t like it.

2. Why didn’t you publish the poem I submitted? 

While we reserve the right not to publish any submission, there may be a few reasons why it wasn’t posted, including: it was not formatted properly, no credit was given to the author, or you wrote the poem. 

3. Who runs this Tumblr?

Spectralradiance and alexher are your mods. Feel free to ask us anything or follow us.

4. How can I reach you if I have a question?

You can ask us anything via the Ask option.

5. Will you only take text posts of entire poems? 

We’ll take any type of post involving poetry! A photo of a poem written somewhere, a quote from a poem, poetry read aloud, etc. We will also gladly take excerpts from a poem if it’s too long to post, but please identify it as an excerpt.

6. So how do I know if my poem is too long to post?

Well, we don’t have any definite criteria but if it’s going to seriously stretch out someone’s dash, we’d prefer you pick your favorite part and just submit that. For example, “East Coker” by T.S. Eliot is a fantastic poem, but it is way too long for us to post and hurt your dash like that.

While we highly encourage you to write your own poetry and share it with the world, we would prefer that you only suggest poems either by established authors or by other Tumblr users, since that was the original aim of this Tumblr; to share poetry you enjoy. So if we didn’t publish a poem that you wrote, it’s not because it wasn’t good. 

We am going to work on an FAQ page and link that on the main Tumblr in the next couple of days.
